Our little holiday in Aikkya is just what our city-weary eyes and soul needed. Located on a quiet hillside with magnificent views, you can spend hours looking at the play of sun and clouds or listening to birdcall.
When I went to Aikkya I felt I am going to someone's home and after spending two days there I started to feel like I know the people who have created this space (and that's when I didn't even meet them), because every inch of Aikkya speaks of them.
We liked the fact that their cottages are built with local building techniques, are sustainable and still have the modern amenities and comforts. We especially loved the common lounge/dining area with it's wood burning stove. It's the ideal place to chill, get to meet the other guests, eat and drink.
If you're lucky you'll find freshly made plum, apricot jams and chutneys too at the property too (they are all sourced from the farm)! Ask for Gin-Jeera cocktail on a sunny Seetla afternoon and thank me later.
The detailing is exquisite, you can spend a day just spotting little wonders in the design.
We enjoyed sitting in the sun room and reading on cold winter mornings and walking around the mountains.
Initially we were worried that the way to the place would may have been impacted by heavy rains/ landslides but we did not face any difficulty reaching the place, infact we would 100% recommend booking this place during monsoons to witness the beautiful valley and sunset views.
The property is gorgeous and we went on a beautiful day hike through the local villages, had lunch with a local family and spent the rest of the time exploring the property, and hanging in the evenings by the cozy fireplace with the sweetest dogs.

The sunsets are spectacular (yes the sunset photograph on the page is real and not photoshopped …) and the full moon nights are only dreamier.
